(Washington, DC) -- A couple of
area congressmen are teaming up on legislation to help make health
insurance affordable to small businesses and their employees.
Russ Carnahan and Jo Ann Emerson joined ten other legislators in
announcing the Small Business Health Options Program Act yesterday.
The SHOP Act will allow businesses and the self-employed to band
together in a statewide or national pool to obtain lower health
insurance prices.
The bill also provides tax credits for employees and employers and helps cut down on administrative costs.
The bill is a companion to a Senate bill introduced by Dick Durbin in April.
