The Rolla tour, hosted by Obama's Missouri Campaign and headed by U.S.
Rep. Russ Carnahan (MO-03), will focus on Obama's plans for making life
better for rural Missourians. Obama is not scheduled to make an
appearance.
The event will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. at David Finch's Farm, located
at 10424 County Road 3000 in Rolla. The public is invited to attend.
The RV Tour will be making stops throughout small and large towns
through Aug. 23 in Missouri to talk about Senator Obama's record of
standing up for rural America and highlight the differences between the
Obama and McCain records as they relate to rural Missouri, stated
Justin Hamilton, Missouri press secretary for Obama for America.
According to Hamilton, Obama voted for the 2008 Farm Bill, which
provides Missouri farmers with the stability they need, important
nutrition assistance to children and families and financial assistance
to rural communities.
Sen. John McCain voted against the 2008 Farm Bill, and said if he were president he'd veto it, Hamilton said.
“While Missourian's are paying over $4 a gallon at the pump, Senator
Obama has called for a $1,000 energy rebate for working families,” said
Hamilton. “John McCain is pushing for more than $4 billion in tax cuts
for the oil companies whose lobbyists contribute to his campaign.”
The Obama campaigners will be reaching out to voters in the Show-Me
state through town hall events, roundtables and press events, talking
to Missourians why they believe that Senator Obama is the only
candidate who will bring the kind of change in Washington it will take
to lower gas prices, make healthcare affordable, and create good, new
jobs in Missouri, said Hamilton.
The tour comes on the heels of a daylong bus tour by Sen. Obama
through rural Missouri and the opening of 36 Obama campaign offices and
increased voter registration drives across the state.
